Tomorrow night in Oakland: Clowes and Ware!

Okay look guys, I know I tell you to do lots of things, but for the love of all things comics (and wonderful), please, if you happen to be in the Bay Area tomorrow night, hit this Dan Clowes and Chris Ware talk, part of the Modern Cartoonist: The Art of Daniel Clowes exhibit at the Oakland Museum of California. While you're at it, you may as well check out the exhibit -- I've been making my way through the book, and my goodness, would it ever be AMAZING to see some of that artwork IRL. The exhibit's up until August 12th.

The talk is tomorrow, Friday July 27th from 7 to 8:30 pm in the OMCA James Moore Theater.  Moderated by OMCA Senior Curator of Art Rene de Guzman and joined by Susan Miller, guest curator of the Clowes exhibit, the discussion will explore Clowes' and Ware's perspectives on the state of comics today, the relationship of comics to fine art, the power of hand-drawn images in the digital age, and their individual careers, among other topics.

After the talk, Clowes and Ware will be signing in the OMCA store from 9 to 10 pm. Due to the short nature of the signing, no outside books can be brought for signing.

Now here's the important part: tickets are included with Museum admission, but seating is limited! Doors open at 6:30, and it would definitely be a good idea to come early, get in line, and cross your fingers.
